Claypit Membership

​

Claypit membership gives you studio access for either 12 or 16 sessions over a 3 month period, up to a specific amount of firing space and lots of other fantastic benefits.  Membership is offered on a quarterly basis to give you the greatest flexibility to use the studio when it suits you. Fees are payable in one go or in 3 monthly instalments. 

 

These Membership options are will evolve over time as we work together to find the right provision to suit the rhythm of our studio and the people who use the space.

It's like a gym but for clay

Membership Option 1

Cost per quarter: £207 (or 3 x monthly instalments of £69)

Number of 3hr sessions: 12 x 3hr sessions 

Kiln capacity per quarter: 20 litres glaze firing

Membership Option 2

Cost per quarter: £252 (or 3 x monthly instalments of £84)

Number of 3hr sessions: 16 x 3hr sessions 

Kiln capacity per quarter: 25 litres glaze firing

Who is membership for?

Claypit Membership is for anyone who has the skills and confidence to work independently with clay. How you gained these skills isn’t important. You could be self-taught, have studied at an institution or evening classes or at the Claypit! Membership is offered at the discretion of the Claypit as you will need to demonstrate to us that you have the required skills and understanding. If you are not sure get in touch!

What are the benefits?

No studio set up cost! No more working from the kitchen table/spare room, or alone in a cold damp shed! As a Claypit Member you will work alongside others who have a passion for clay in a warm friendly studio. Join in, share skills and ideas. Help us build, shape and nurture our fledgling clay community.

What's included?

  • Access to the studio, use of facilities and tools, for up to a number of 3hr sessions

  • Use of our members only wheel and work table (full facilities including our new Shimpo RK-55 potter's wheels, during non-class time)

  • An hour long 1:1 mentoring session with a tutor per quarter

  • Your own shelf to store work and materials (90 x 40 x 40cm)

  • Studio clay at bulk buy prices 

  • Firing capacity at our standard temperatures (950°C and 1220°C)

  • 10% discount on our one day workshops

  • Facilitated creative social sessions held twice a term on a Friday morning. Get together for a cuppa, meet and chat to other members, share ideas, skills and knowledge.

  • Selling opportunities at our Open Studios held twice a year

 

Time Exchange

We are committed to opening studio access to as many people as possible and will be introducing a Time Exchange system and, in time, a concessionary rate. If you are willing to spend some time doing some back of house work in exchange for studio access sessions then get in touch! Offers will be made on an individual basis.
