NEW One Day Workshops
 

Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned potter these workshops are a great way for you to enjoy learning new skills

From sculpting to decoration techniques to glazing, these workshops will leave you inspired. You will be guided by experienced ceramicist and Claypit throwing tutor Rachel Holian. Never done anything like this before? Don't worry! Rachel's superb teaching will enable you to have fun while confidently learning new skills. Just bring yourself and we'll provide everything you need. These workshops ae suitable for adults and 16+. Your creations will be fired and glazed by us at The Claypit ready for collection about 4 weeks later. Maximum 8 people per session.

Saturday 7th September 

Creating surface colour and pattern

Explore exciting various ways that slip (liquid clay) can be used to decorate the surface of your clay creations:

Sgraffito, inlay, slip prints, stencils and much more! Produce a series of tiles that explore surface decoration using materials and ideas for pattern and design, which are set to inspire!

Saturday 5th October

Small figures - Make a Figurative ceramic bust in clay:

Using specialist handbuilding techniques you will make a small/expressive ceramic bust (head and shoulders) You will make your very own miniature character - full of character and charm, decorated with slips and oxides.

16th November

Explore Nerikomi - The art of mixing coloured clay

In this specialist technical session you will explore the artistic technique of Nerikomi -  where different coloured of clays are marbled or combined to create patterns and designs. You will then use your clay to create an effective and stylish bowl or mug.
